Ten Libyan girls packed their bags and headed to St. Thomas for a five-day bachelorette trip to celebrate our bride-to-be. Unlike most of my travels, this was probably the only getaway where I didn’t hit my usual 10,000 steps a day, and I didn’t even feel bad about it.
Our Airbnb sat on top of a cliff with sweeping ocean views, which meant getting down into the city was more of a mission than we anticipated. Each of us had packed a few essentials in our suitcases, and whatever was missing, like poultry, vegetables, and water, our on-call driver picked up for us. The kitchen quickly became the heart of the trip. We cooked most of our meals at the villa, kept the fridge stocked with snacks, and stayed up late chatting, laughing, and raiding the kitchen like it was a sleepover.
We only made it into the city twice: once for a boat trip, where we snorkeled in the choppy waters, laughed through a bit of motion sickness, and soaked up the island vibes; and again on our final night, when we dressed up for dinner in town to celebrate the bride-to-be.
The rest of the trip was simple: poolside lounging, endless laughter, and catching up with girls I hadn’t seen in years. The views from our villa were breathtaking, the kind that make you stop mid-conversation just to take it in. It wasn’t the most adventurous trip I’ve ever taken, but it was exactly what it needed to be: a chance to unwind, reconnect, and celebrate love with some of my closest friends.
📍 Places I Visited
- Airbnb Villa: On a cliff with panoramic ocean views, poolside lounging, and plenty of late-night chats.
- Boat Ride on the Caribbean Sea: A day out on the water with snorkeling, and views stretching all the way to Puerto Rico.
- Nazareth: Headed into town for our final night to celebrate the bride-to-be with a group dinner.
🏨 Where I Stayed
- Airbnb: 5/5 ⭐️
- Stunning villa at the top of a cliff! Spacious enough to comfortably host a group of 10+, with days spent lounging in the pool and nights relaxing in the hot tub. If you’re confident driving on narrow roads (and on the opposite side), this place is for you, otherwise, a driver is definitely the way to go.
📝 Travel Tips
- Cliffside Villa: Consider staying at a cliffside villa with a pool and hot tub, it’s perfect for relaxing and group trips.
- Private Driver: If you’re not comfortable driving on narrow roads or on the opposite side, hire a driver; having one on call makes grocery runs and outings much easier.
- Boat Excursion: Even a short boat ride is worth it for snorkeling and the amazing views of the surrounding islands, including Puerto Rico.
- City Night Out: Plan at least one night to go into the city for dinner or drinks. It’s a simple way to experience the city without overexerting.
